Syllabus e Nei: MHF Kolkata’s School Workshop

Mental Health Foundation (MHF) Kolkata, was invited recently to Sarada Bidyapith, a Bengali medium school in Behala, where they held a session with parents and teachers on managing behavioural problems of students

Syllabus e Nei (Not in the Syllabus) was a unique presentation by MHF Kolkata. Last week, MHF Kolkata was at the primary section of Sharda Bidyapeeth, a Bengali medium government school at Behala Parnashree. A programme was organized for parents and teachers on how to manage behavioural problems in school and at home.

The presentation was named ‘Syllabus e Nei.’ Issues such as child development and understanding of behaviour, strategies to manage scholastic difficulty, emotional health, hyperactivity, social communication, problematic use of media, sexuality and abuse were covered by the MHF Kolkata team, comprising of Priyanka Bhattacharyya, Lipica Bhattacharya, Parmeet Soni, Shatabhisha Chatterjee and Shaneel Mukherjee. Around 150 parents of children of the school’s primary section and teachers attended. All realized the need of the hour is to equip both teachers and parents with immediate response codes, in challenging times, as they are the first responders and are often the key members of the child’s world to create a stepping stone for resilience.

The programme ended with a fruitful question-answer session, where parents and teachers had queries that were answered by the MHF team. The event was aided by Pratichi Trust.
